Tesla hits 75,000 Supercharger connectors

Tesla officially installed its 75,000th Supercharger stall worldwide on November 19, 2025. This large number indicates the rapid expansion of the company’s electric car charging network.

The company added the most recent 5,000 stalls in less than five months. For a direct comparison, the 70,000th stall was celebrated just a few months earlier, in late June 2025.

That special new stall, the 75,000th one, was installed far away in South Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. This location helps fill a regional gap for electric vehicle drivers.

The 75,000th stall is located in Hobart, Tasmania, and is marked with a Glacier Blue post. The site features four V4 chargers.

The first Supercharger stations in 2012

To get to this many stalls, the network had to start somewhere small. The Supercharger program was first unveiled on September 24, 2012. The goal was to enable long-distance driving for the first Tesla car, the Model S.

When the network launched, it had only six Supercharger stations active. All six of these original locations were in the state of California, providing up to 100 kilowatts of power.

Tesla’s fast charging speed advantage

Since that small start, Tesla has grown much faster than other companies. In the third quarter of 2025, the company added a verified 1,820 fast-charging ports across the United States.

This single number is greater than the total added by the next nine competing networks put together during that exact period. The network is also used heavily, delivering 4.8 TWh of energy in the first nine months of 2025.

Upgrades in V4 Supercharger cabinets

To support all that energy use, Tesla is constantly upgrading its stations. The latest V4 Supercharger hardware is designed to be superior to previous models.

V4 cabinets support about twice as many stalls per cabinet as V3 and enable up to 500 kW charging for compatible vehicles.

Other automakers adopting the NACS plug

With better technology, the network is now becoming the standard for other car companies. The Tesla connector is officially called the North American Charging System, or NACS.

Automakers like Stellantis, which makes Jeep and Dodge, will adopt NACS starting in early 2026 in North America. This change gives their customers access to over 28,000 Supercharger stalls across five countries.

Superchargers are now in 54 countries

Beyond North America, this vast network is spread across the globe. The Supercharger network is now available in 54 countries. The company has focused heavily on the two biggest electric car markets: the United States and China.

These two countries combined account for 63% of all the Supercharger stalls globally. The U.S. alone has a verified 33,978 individual Supercharger stalls as of late 2025.

The goal of all these chargers is to save drivers time with breakneck charging speeds. Superchargers can add up to 200 miles of driving range in just 15 minutes for many Tesla models.

Tesla currently lists a maximum Supercharger rate of 325 kW. Based on reported Q1–Q3 figures from Tesla updates and independent tallies, YTD energy throughput is estimated at 4.8 TWh.

High density of chargers in Nordic countries

This fast charging is beneficial in smaller countries with high electric car use. The Nordic countries are a great example of having a high density of chargers. Norway alone has 2,500 Supercharger stalls.

This country has a small population of approximately 5.5 million people, providing it with better coverage than regions with much larger populations. The five Nordic countries together have nearly 5,000 Superchargers for a combined population of just 27 million people.

V4 charging power for electric trucks

The latest V4 technology is being prepared to meet even greater charging needs. The V4 hardware is built on a high-power 1000V (volt) charging architecture. This advanced system enables faster charging of high-voltage electric vehicles.

For electric semi-trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles, the V4 charging capacity can reach up to 1.2 MW (megawatts) per stall. This significant technological growth helped the network expand by 18% year-over-year in 2025.

Specific models gaining NACS access in 2026

This transition to NACS will begin with specific car models from other companies. Stellantis customers will gain access to the network in North America starting in early 2026.

This includes battery-electric vehicles, such as the Jeep Wagoneer S and the Dodge Charger Daytona. The upcoming 2026 Jeep Recon is also scheduled to be one of the first models equipped with the NACS charging port.

Supercharger fees and international NACS

Finally, to keep the stalls moving, the network employs specific policies worldwide. As of October 2025, the Supercharger network included over 7,800 open sites globally.

The shift to NACS is also happening internationally, with Stellantis customers in Japan and South Korea gaining access starting in 2027. Tesla charges an idle fee of $0.50 per minute in the U.S. if a car is left plugged in after reaching 80% battery charge at a busy station.
